Every one of my mugs is unique. Thrown on the wheel with speckled stoneware clay, at leather hard stage, various designs have been carefully carved into the clay for decorative interest.
This piece has flowers carved around the surface. Glazed first with cobalt oxide to create the striking blue, it’s then dipped into a semi transparent celadon green glaze which enhances the speckles in the clay to beautiful effect. It measures height-8.cm, bottom-5cm, top opening 8cm.
Each piece is made with the utmost care and attention to detail. Taking inspiration from nature, my forms often feature organic curves or waves akin to the edge of a leaf or petal. I usually recommend hand washing handmade ceramic items for prolonged life and best care, however I have found the mugs wash well in the dishwasher.
