Green Dream Raku Pot

£28.00
sold out

This pot was thrown on the wheel in *raku clay. After a bisque fire in our usual electric kiln, it has been glazed with special raku glazes designed to react with the *raku firing process. This piece would look great as a stand alone decoration or containing a plant, as long as the pot is lined first.

The piece measures: Height-9cm bottom-8cm, opening 10cm

*Raku pottery is an expressive, fast paced ceramic firing technique originating from 16th century Japan. It involved removing glowing, red-hot pieces directly from a hot kiln and placing them into combustible materials such as sawdust, leaves or newspaper to create unique, unpredictable patterns. Due to the porous nature of the low-fire clay and rapid cooling shock, raku vessels are primarily meant for decoration rather than holding food or water.
